Franchisors to Tackle Top-Level Business Challenges at 2017 UnConference
Labor Crisis, Company Culture to Top Agenda at Non-Traditional Event in Park City, UT
PARK CITY, Utah (March 6, 2017) – Proactive solutions to the nation’s impending labor crisis and managing teams in high-growth environments will be two key topics of discussion at this year’s Franchise UnConference (Franchise UnC), the franchise industry’s most UnTraditional event where brand presidents, CEOs and founders from emerging and mature brands and multi-unit franchisees gather annually to network and exchange ideas in a relaxed, collaborative environment.
The Franchise UnC, being held March 8-11, 2017 at the Newpark Resort in Park City, Utah, a premiere skiing and snowboarding destination, provides an unprecedented opportunity to share best practices among more than 100 franchise CEOs, presidents and founders in a casual yet productive format. The Franchise UnC is the brainchild of Brad Fishman (Fishman Public Relations), Dawn Kane (Hot Dish Advertising) and Lane Fisher (FisherZucker, LLC).
“We call it the UnConference for a reason,” said Lane Fisher, of franchise law firm FisherZucker, LLC. “Morning collaborative breakfast sessions are followed by a day of the UnAttendees’ choice of activities, from skiing, snowmobiling and other outdoor activities to painting and cooking classes and arranged tours. At night we get together for cocktails and meals. It’s about taking the conversations into a fun, social environment where networking and learning feels natural.”
This year’s programming includes:
- A facilitated discussion on Thursday morning, “What is possible? What is missing? What is next? Ideas to solve the Impending Labor Crisis for Your Brand.” The discussion will be led by Jeff Dudan, a successful entrepreneur and founder of AdvantaClean, a franchisor of light environmental services. Dudan, who delivers leadership lessons learned through years of coaching youth sports and building an international franchise organization, will focus on exercises that aim to develop strategies to deal with the talent gap today, and the labor crisis that franchisors will soon face.
- A Friday morning facilitated discussion, “Managing Teams in High Growth Environments, Culture and People Management.” This session will be led by David Barr, chairman of PMTD Restaurants and its affiliates, a multi-unit franchise business operating 23 KFC and Taco Bell locations, and has been elected secretary of the International Franchise Association. He also serves as managing director of Franworth, an outsourced franchise development solution for growing franchisors; chairman of Spice & Tea Exchange, franchisor of retail spice and tea shops; board member of BrightStar Care, franchisor of home health care agencies; and board member at the Bistro Group, the second largest franchisee of TGIFridays.
In addition, UnAttendees will have an opportunity to share 3-5 minute game-changing technologies, marketing and leadership approaches that helped move the needle at their franchise organizations during the past year.
“If you’ve ever been to a business event that was Unproductive, Unfun and desperately Uncool, we feel your pain,” Fisher added. “So we designed this event to be the total opposite. Franchise UnConference is fun, productive, relaxing and inspiring.”
